@BEK97 @Phreba Tottenham are the Jets of the EPL. I avoided them when I picked a team precisely bc I already have one Jets in my life.
@chopaganda @BEK97 in some way true, but is anyone really the Jets….I mean they would’ve been relegated by now. Tottenham is typically a top 6 team over the last several years. But, yeah, I’m a Mets fan and picking Tottenham instead of Arsenal(Yankees) or Chelsea as a London team, was bit risky. My son is a huge Chelsea fan, that’s also a good club to follow now that their oligarch is gone.
@Phreba @chopaganda I didn't see your latest reply before my last one. The Yankees comp gives me pause.

@BEK97 @Phreba Yankees comp for Arsenal is dumb.

That would be Man United, Chelsea, and now Man City. While Arsenal has spent more in recent years, they have always been about building teams, not buying them.

@chopaganda @BEK97 maybe, but Man U is in Manchester, not North London. City used to be a middling team until oil money came in 10 yrs ago. The point is, Arsenal are the easy team to pick in North London as they’ve won 13 first division titles, second only to Man U. There’s a reason they were broadcast to Americans(late 90’s early 00’s on MSG) earlier than any other team and why there is so many arsenal fans.

@Phreba @BEK97 Yes. 13 titles since like 1900. No titles in 20 years.

Spurs and Arsenal have a north London rivalry so Spurs fans make themselves feel better by calling Arsenal the Yankees. But it’s not a good comp at all.

@chopaganda @BEK97 it’s true though, I’ve always viewed arsenal as the mainstream team. Maybe it’s because I’ve paid attention to international football for 25-30 years that I always view Arsenal as a powerhouse.
