He was a stubborn, ill-informed ass about the pandemic and vaccinations but, sure, let's do a puff piece on him....

Novak Djokovic, Back in New York and Loving It as Never Before

Led by Carlos Alcaraz, tennis youth is coming for Djokovic. “My role nowadays is to prevent them from that.”

The New York Times

@jeffjarvis

Because (as you just proved) people will post links to a story about him and give the site traffic.

@marcolgato
Well, it is difficult to criticize media without saying what I'm criticizing.

@jeffjarvis

Yeah I see that you don't have a good option here.

@jeffjarvis

If you read up on Djokovic, he partakes in questionable health practices.

Hoping Carlos Alcaraz beats him again.

And if you remember a few months back, NYT did a puff piece on Elizabeth Holmes.

@jeffjarvis Yeah, but Jeff, he hits a ball real good.
@jeffjarvis As surprising as it may seem, his COVID stance and many other questionable acts make his late-career stage a truly engaging story. He IS one of the best sportsmen to have ever picked up a racket and, even though I was never a fan, his tunnel vision mentality, the stubborn refusal to let go is a huge part of what made him so successful. It seems he's been applying that to his everyday life too, often with baffling consequences. Jury's out still, but the story's fascinating.
