in the process of fixing my wii u which would not update from 5.5.5, i finally bit the bullet and replaced my haxchi with tiramisu... it was honestly very easy and barring some shenanigans with file corruption when trying to install aroma there were no issues
i set up sdcafiine and tried out a playable octolings mod (Playable Octolings Port by AsierMR on gamebanana), very good 10/10
