#Boulder’s City Council progressive majority passed a historic ordinance revising the city’s decades-old discriminatory occupancy limits.

The reaction from Boulder’s NIMBYs has been to equate the process with January 6.

Here’s my op-ed calling out their bullshit. https://www.dailycamera.com/2023/08/23/guest-opinion-brian-keegan-irresponsible-rhetoric-around-occupancy-ordinance-process-has-no-place-in-boulder/

Guest opinion: Brian Keegan: Irresponsible rhetoric around occupancy ordinance process has no place in Boulder

Boulder’s current leaders like Mayor Pro Tem Mark Wallach need to follow their own advice and turn down the temperature on irresponsible rhetoric equating normal and legitimate ordinance-making wit…

I got cussed out by the Deputy Mayor of Boulder in the editorial pages of the local paper last night.

Buckle up!

“What the fuck is Keegan doing now?”

Guest opinion: Mark Wallach: Occupancy limit increase is a repudiation of our community’s vote

Guest opinion: Brian Keegan: Subordinating Council authority to previous ballot measures is a slippery slope

The city’s two-and-a-half-year-old abatement policy already prioritizes clearing unsanctioned camps near schools. Passing the Safe Zones initiative would neither appropriate more funding nor change…

@bkeegan Propositions like this annoy me so much for many reasons including that people will take a result about a specific wording of a specific law and use it as a cudgel against the entire policy issue in perpetuity. It’s brexiteer logic and the fact that the mayor appears to be unwilling to consider that propositions and legislating can and should deal divergently with the same issue is damning, to say the least
@bkeegan just fucking say you don’t support housing reform instead of hiding behind a straw-man of your own creation
@bkeegan Wow. Everything in that screed raises my respect for you. Your earlier opinion that's linked makes sense on its own but is comparatively a much stronger argument. It sounds like your fair housing movement has a path forward, a shame it has to be so fraught.
