Several schools in Arkansas are defiantly teaching AP African American history. The state has warned them that the students will earn no credits.

Republicans continue to describe Black history as "indoctrination" and "teaching children to hate America" -- showing that they might benefit from the course themselves.

@futurebird Can't colleges opt to award credits for this even if the schools teaching it don't? 😈
@dalias @futurebird I don't know, but most colleges will be happy to see it in your application packet.

@Nazani @dalias

True, though sometimes such courses are just as important to students who never go to college-- in a way it matters more for such students it's the last history they will learn in a formal course in their lives.

I've seen the positive impact this can have.

@futurebird @dalias How many kids who take AP courses Don't go on to college? That's why genuine history must be incorporated wherever possible- in English, art, yes, even math story problems.
