How the hell did he get elected to anything? Whatโs wrong with Florida?
Yes, thereโs plenty of gerrymandering in FL, but Governor is elected by statewide majority. In 2018 desantis won a squeaker requiring a recount against Tallahassee mayor Gillum.
In 2022 the Dems didnโt even try โ they nominated former Repub Gov & failed Senate candidate Crist โ desantis won a landslide.
Guess that lopsided victory made desantis think he was a contendah! ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
@AnnMorris @bronakins @bkm doesn't change that the GOP has surpassed the Democratic party in voter registration.
Governor is a state-wide race, gerrymandering would impact the state house and senate, not the governor's office.
โPalmโ is saying that gerrymandering is when a state is divided into districts for the purpose of voters voting for a representative from district, the division of the state into districts is done unfairly to favor one party. Elections for these district representatives are on the same ballot as voting for statewide candidates like governor & US Senator, but the ballot in different districts will have different candidates for the district.
