Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas says a man reported road rage incident around 5pm Friday at Colfax and I-25. He said someone shot at his car. Thomas says victim followed suspect vehicle and was on the phone with dispatchers as more shots were fired at his car.

Victim followed suspect vehicle, a pickup truck, to 47th & Josephine. When officers arrived, vehicle was empty, so they set up surveillance. Several hours later, 4 people got into truck. Police tried pulling it over but driver refused to stop.

Eventually, the truck crashed at 35th/York. Man got out of the flipped over truck with a female who he threatened to kill. Police believe man had a gun. One officer fired shot, striking the suspect.

Colorado State Patrol, CBI conducting a joint investigation under the oversight of the independent monitor. They will hand findings over to the Denver District Attorney for review.
