Alternative LTT Communities - DevOps Pizza

One of the key differences between traditional social media and the Fediverse is the existence of multiple communities that share the same topic. You should have a choice when it comes to your community preferences so I wanted to create a list of other LTT/LMG communities on the Fediverse to help us all grow. If you’re aware of a community I’ve missed, please comment them below and I’ll update the post body. - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://devops.pizza/c/ltt] - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmy.ml/c/linustechtips] - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmit.online/c/linustechtips] - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://lemmy.world/c/linustechtips] - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://kbin.social/m/LinusTechTips] - [email protected] [/c/[email protected]] [https://discuss.online/c/linus_tech_tips]

I think that, for such kinds of communities, we need synchronised posting for major things… Like announcements and whatnot.
Sounds smart, ElPussyKangaroo.
Hehehe, is there a rimjob_steve equivalent over on Lemmy?
With federation, you can have as many rimjob_steve’s as you like! 😁
🌚 indeed indeed indeed

This’d usually be something a bot would do. I use one over on [email protected] to keep an eye on things but I don’t let it post/comment as I want to encourage the community to actively post and not just lurk.

But if posting news to all LTT communities is something the respective community members and moderators are happy to see, I could add that as a feature.

It was like that on Reddit. And from my time on Facebook I also remember many groups on the same topic.

True, but discoverability on Reddit was much much easier, I’ve found this to be one of Lemmys weakest attributes so far. I’m sure it’ll improve over time or somebody will make a search engine based on the instance map over on GitHub.

Hmm, that’s not a bad idea. I might give that a try at some point.

You mean this? lemmyverse.net/communities

Though currently due to some bad configuration on the side of lemmy.world all of their communities are missing from there which makes it much less usable than it used to be.

So what kind of content is allowed in this community? - Lemmy

So due to recent developments, are we still allowed to post and discuss tech-related topics? Or is the goal of this community now one of shitposting on LMG, given the recent name and banner changes? The recent post on stubby screwdrivers was locked before even giving other people the opportunity to share their own thoughts on alternative brands that are specific to their country. As much as Linus and LMG fucked up, really sad to see this community degrading down a path of hatred (even if justified, based on community name change , banner, etc), instead of chatting about what we all love: technology, independent of the situation at LMG. Really hate seeing a community with so much promise (especially as a Reddit alternative) getting destroyed.

I don’t see the point of splitting an already thin community across multiple instances like this. Am I suppose to post the same things five different times?
This community seems to be the biggest. Why don’t we funnel things here
