Sidney Powell, a former Trump attorney charged alongside the former president in the Georgia election interference case, has filed a motion for a speedy trial. Powell’s request makes her the second of the 19 charged in the case to do so.

It’s not even news. Everyone has a right to a lawyer, speedy trial, impartial jury, and a right to know who your accusers are for the charges against you. It’s the sixth amendment. A purpose for having the right to a speedy trial is so the government can’t hold you indefinitely before trial while they make excuses.

To your edit, it’s hard to campaign from jail. Also the warden (or whoever) could decide he doesn’t get internet access or significant phone time, so, that’d be a problem too
