@cathitza Imagine having an upgradable not-vendor-or-carrier-locked portable handheld computer unencumbered by telecom regulation and practice. A small personal tablet that doesn't transmit my every movement, position, or action to a data broker and does not receive voice calls. If only such a thing were administratively possible.
@arclight @cathitza You mean an iPod Touch? Those were discontinued in 2019….

"And if you've been watching on your phone, I hope you weren't interrupted by too many calls from friends. Except of course you weren't, because you're the sort of person who watches quizzes on your phone."

Victoria Coren Mitchell, closing Only Connect on 18th July 2016.

@cathitza
Same! 🤣🤣🤣
@cathitza pretty much how I feel about any notification on smart watch that obstructs watch face
@cathitza by pressing the volume buttons, it can stop ringing. There's still an incoming call, but at least it will no bother anyone.

@cathitza this is what meat loaf was singin about
@cathitza this is an honest question that I’ve asked myself multiple times in the past: why isn’t there a toggle to disable the phone functionality? I want texting without the phone.
@cathitza OMG this. And also, yes, you have to wait for it to time out instead of hitting End, because the worst thing ever is to demonstrate to the other party that you manually rejected the call.
