Twice-impeached former president Trump has officially been booked into Georgia’s Fulton County Jail, under Booking Number 2313827. He used a bail bondsman to cover the cost of his $200,000 bond.

We’re desensitized at this point, but this is a huge moment in US history — don’t lose sight of its significance.

@rvawonk This moment hasn't had the same impact on me that Nixon's resignation did. There's no sense of relief. Trump will hold on to his claim to the presidency just as hard as he did from November 2020 through January 2021.

I didn't watch the GOP debate last night, but I have seen clips of it. The only one on that stage that didn't scare the absolute crap out of me was Nikki Haley. The rest of them seem to either be campaigning to be Trump's running mate or pompous jerks who are as unqualified for the office as Trump is.

The purpose of bond is to ensure that the accused attends hearings of which he is the focus, not to humiliate or inconvenience the accused. $200,000 isn't going to do anything other than connote a lack of impartiality. This is a fucking mess already.
