#FlickrPro has become quite expensive.
I have paid a subscription since 2004.
It wasn’t always expensive but I have been reconsidering for a while.
Now it’s pretty expensive, and I stopped using it when things went sour between my kid’s dad and me.

Since 2016 I have meant to pick up where I left off. But it probably won’t happen although I ABSOLUTELY LOVE #photography and particularly post processing ♥️

I requested my data (1 zip file of account data, 12 zip files of photos and videos).

@koalie I left because I don't want things to go sour. I would not pick things up at current prices.

@koalie Yikes. I remember when it was about $20-something.

Haven't been on it for a few years either, rejoined a week or two ago but don't think I'll be subscribing at those kind of rates :/

@koalie I'll be sad to miss your photos there, I always appreciated them.

It is definitely a significant expense, though I think it's a reasonable one, and hopefully a more sustainable business model and sustainable service this way (though it's hard to ever know that for sure).

@koalie I agree, I stopped my subscription this year, the cost is too high for my usage.

@koalie also been a subscriber since 2004.

$6 a month doesn't feel a lot (to me at least) if it helps SmugMug keep the platform running (and slowly improve it) without changing into yet another shit show like Facebook/Instagram.

I didn't find any compelling alternative yet, anyway. Pixelfed is not the same (more like a better Instagram).

I was thinking about this today. Why hasn’t anyone thought of making a Flickr alternative for the Fediverse? We have IG, FB, Twitter, YT alternatives but why not Flickr? The CEO made a poll here about Flickr support for ActivityPub back in Nov 2022 but nothing has come out of it. And well, he also seems to have left(?) the Fediverse - no posts since Nov 2022.
