TIL that there are a number of Christians who question the authenticity of Christ's Sermon on the Mount (Book of Matthew, Chapters 5-7), many outright dismissing it as "liberal talking points."

And they are serious.

@Unclekage Many years ago I was challenged by a self-proclaimed Devout Christian, who objected to my concern for the poor.

When I quoted the Sermon on the Mount to him, he dismissed it. When I pointed out it was in his Bible, he insisted it wasn't. When I pointed him to Matthew 5-7, he said that he hadn't read the *whole* Bible, just the important parts (which were, apparently, some bits of Genesis, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Revelation and not much else...)
