That's a lot of broken families.
Kids losing parents, partners left alone, grandparents gone too soon.
We used to name them, they were people with lives and stories.
There's hundreds or thousands more who are left with chronic illness. Their lives are broken too. Forever changed.
And many more shut out of society.
Because we won't do anything to stop this virus.
Won't clean the air.
Won't wear a mask.
It's not ok.
It's easy to say Never Again.
It's easy to imagine you'd stand up and fight if the Nazis returned.
But when eugenics started, when landlords' fucking profits became more important than the lives of our friends and family members most people couldn't be bothered to do the bare minimum to protect each other.
This is how fascism returns.
By normalising that some lives are disposable.
By numbing us to the pain of others.
By making those of us who still care to be freaks and outcasts.
