My spreadsheet of studies showing the #COVID19's long-term risks now includes 298 studies. Recent ones indicate:

- Vaccine protection against death wanes from 90% to 34% in six months.

- Even mild infections cause left and right ventricular strain months after diagnosis.

- COVID causes the risk of autoimmune disease to rise considerably: pernicious anaemia 72% higher, rheumatoid arthritis 29% higher, Graves' disease 30% higher, and multiple sclerosis 166% higher.

@augieray
And I read in the guardian that it is known to trigger diabetes.
@EllieK That is true. I've seen about a half-dozen studies showing an association between COVID infection and diabetes diagnoses.

It's buried in there I think.
Along with a couple of other gems you have to really look for.
Here it is
"Indeed, the UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and the UK Health Security Agency have said so themselves this week. Private boosters would mean less time off work ill, less time sick in bed and, from what we know so far, protection from some of the longer-term potential health effects of Covid, such as diabetes. ..."
A new Covid variant is on the rise – how worried should we be?

It is important we stay level-headed as new subvariants emerge and mutate in the coming weeks and months, says Prof Devi Sridhar, chair of global public health at the University of Edinburgh

@augieray I will never understand how the CDC has stopped taking this seriously.
@EeyoreTheCat I think I understand, but I am not forgiving of the CDC's actions. In the end, the CDC is a political organization. It succumbed to pressure from leaders, and it waved the white flag in the face of public indifference. But, its mission is to fight for public health, not acquiesce to pressure and public carelessness. This seems a good example of just how an entire organization can abandon its purpose in the face of influence and frustration.
@augieray Have you noticed anything related to inflammatory arthritis and COVID in youth? And resulting long Covid? Stumped here as my daughter is going on two plus years, and cannot walk up a single flight of stairs. Our search for answers has led us to multiple specialists with no result.
Not asking for a diagnosis, but reference to research that we might be able to pass on to a doctor. I'll check the spreadsheet now.
With thanks.
@augieray I have been watching specifically for studies that address the risks to those who are vaccinated and currently boosted. Do you have such a category or recommendations?
@CynicallyOptim2 They're scattered in that spreadsheet. I've seen some mixed data. Some studies indicate vaccines can help reduce the risk of long COVID-19, but others say it doesn't.
