The first thing out of Poilievre's mouth was "Who's ready to axe the carbon tax?" and the crowd, who do not pay the federal carbon tax because they live in BC, cheered & cheered & waved their Axe-the-Tax signs.

Putting a price on carbon pollution is widely recognized as the most efficient means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also driving innovation. Since 2019, every jurisdiction in Canada has had a price on carbon pollution. In June 2007, Quebec implemented the first carbon tax in Canada which was expected to generate $2 million annually.

It gets better...the taxes are returned flat...which means people who consume more (rich people) pay more and get less. Those who consume less (everyone else) gets more money back.
But the conservatives deny this vehemently, but it actually informs at least one motivation for their opposition...they despise a wealth transfer.
