A bug broke images and links posted to Twitter prior to December 2014. Now X, the new name for Twitter, says the bug as been fixed and the issue will be resolved “in the coming days.”

Probably just broke something. These kinds of things do tend to happen when you fire most of your engineering team.

@elgg hmm, Archived or not, I wonder if this is because he really doesn't want legal searches of certain content or persons, as happened recently.

Or is it a cost saving exercise? That would be a question for tech oriented minds here.

Of course, it could be as simple as Musk being Musk.

@elgg Are we sure they removed the media or they just didn’t pay their Google Cloud bill from months ago and Google finally decided to cut them off … and that’s what happened to be on the Google Cloud storage. Honestly they are so stretched thin and tech folks so overworked that I think it’s a coin flip if this were a deliberate decision or just a side effect of some hair-brained knee jerk Elmo hissy-fit.
