Patience paid off. There are all sorts of lovely ways to host your twitter archive now.

Super pleased with tweetback: https://github.com/tweetback/tweetback

will have my archive up on https://tweets.hiredthought.com in short order

And now the long task of deleting 30k tweets.

I missed the window of opportunity before the API changes to do mass deletes. Ah well, people asked me not to delete, and I feel good about honoring that request at the time given what I knew.

So I can delete 50 per day through the API and maybe 1000 per day through the UI? Some interesting puppeteer scripts that seem to work for that, though I've been getting rate limited quicker than expected.

It's okay, I'm patient.

More vandalism from @elonmusk. Twitter has now removed all media posted before 2014. Thats - so far - almost a decade of pictures and videos from the early 2000s removed from the service. For example, here’s a search of my media tweets from before 2014. https://t.co/FU6K34oqmA

@pderaaij ah yeah I encountered this while building my archive last night. Thanks for the explanation! Thankfully, I was able to restore missing media from my backup from September.

The other weird thing is I think there's still a shell of a tweet remaining for each media post. So even if the media's gone, I still have a record to remove.

@hiredthought

Interesting to see people doing what you have done.

My timeline does not deserve that effort, but it is important to remember that as platform user, you just have the usufruct, you don't own a shit
