Do you think there would be a place for a furry convention that was more for education than partying and shopping? There's certainly some people who could benefit, like creators and stuff. I think even the more academically minded would find it interesting to spend a weekend learning about anthropomorphism's impact on history and pop culture. #furry #furrycon
@jayrfox Meanwhile, I'm literally a member of the Popular Culture Association and I seem to be the only one there with a genuine academic interest in furry matters... I definitely feel like there's an intersection point somewhere that could be super enriching, but I'm not sure what it is.
@hanalei you're definitely not alone! For one, I know @vanthehusky is doing some academic work in the furry space, along with @tofte
@jayrfox @hanalei @tofte I’m clearly in excellent company! Yes, I’m doing my thesis on the furry fandom as a safe space, and currently writing a book chapter about species prevalence in furry media texts.
@vanthehusky you'll definitely have to let me know what book and when it releases!
@jayrfox it will likely be academic prices so wouldn’t expect you to pay for that! I’m gonna start a blog of academic work this year and I’ll put it up there for free once the book is published. 😁
