I watched Gamers Nexus video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGW3TPytTjc) about problems with LMG. Before I watched that video, I was just ignoring more drama. After watching, I though GN had good points. Overnight, Linus answered that video, and instead of dealing with their mistakes, just deflected and tried to paint themselves as the victim. Here's GN response to Linus' answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3byz3txpso

I'm unsubscribing from all LMG's channels. Done with their BS.

LMG has probably destroyed the startup "Billet Labs" because of their incompetence. If I were Billet Labs, I'd sue LMG for stolen intellectual property and theft of their prototype. A competitor probably purchased it.

Looks like LMG has actually paid attention to the criticism. I was quite happy with most of the teams statements. I was least happy with Linus' (I think he still has the timeline on the Billet Labs email wrong), but I think I'm willing to give them another chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cTpTMl8kFY

@keiko Linus' apology was hollow and he still doesn't seem to get it.

They also didn't thank Steve/GN for bringing this up, let alone apologize for Linus' shitty forum post.

Nor did they address the (edit: only recently illegal) policy preventing employees from discussing wages.

Not to mention Madison's allegations.

Not to mention his repeated disparagement of the idea of their employees unionizing.

I'll give them another chance if they demonstrate a pattern of good behavior. That'll take a long time.

@noxypaws I've seen several people repeat the wage transparency claim, but I'm not going to repeat it until I see something more than someone just saying it. I've heard there's a leaked handbook somewhere - Does that have it?

Madison's allegations are less than 24 hours old, so I'll have to watch how that plays out.

Got any examples of them disparaging unionization?

I'm all for roasting them if they deserve it, but I'm not going to roast them on hearsay.

@keiko I've watched Linus say on multiple occasions that he would regard employees unionizing as a personal failure, that he prefers to run a company where a union isn't needed.

Which is classic union-busting bullshit, and stood out to me every time I heard it as, at BEST, a soft guilt trip on any of his workers considering organizing.

And yes, the leaked handbook shows the wage opacity policy. As well, there was a merch message asking about that, and it was responded to with "it's not allowed".

@noxypaws Can you post a link to said handbook?

@noxypaws OK, since you wouldn't post the sources, I did the research. The research shows this is all BS. I /will/ cite sources.

LMG handbook: https://pdfhost.io/v/YuYw8GOm0_LMG_Policy_Handbook

LMG handbook is dated Jan 1st, 2021.

BC law requiring wage transparency was passed on May 11, 2023, and only goes into effect on job posting from November 1, 2023. So, you can really only argue over this issue at the earliest, after May 11 this year.

Like I said before - I'm all for roasting when roasting is deserved. This does not appear to be the case with the evidence presented so far.

@keiko If it was legal, that makes it ok to you?

Also I gave you my sources, what the heck dude

@noxypaws That wasn't wasn't the argument. Your argument was "the illegal policy preventing employees from discussing wages".

If you want to argue about the ethics of discussing wages, that's a different point.

@keiko Okay. If it was not legally prohibited at the time of Madison's employment, then I retract the word "illegal" from my statement, leaving the rest as my remaining point, and thank you for correcting me.
@noxypaws I though the Madison thing was sexual harassment in the workplace - That's a serious accusation, and I'm interested to see how that plays out.
@keiko It will surely play out to the satisfaction and justice of nobody. There is no good ending to that story.
