PSA: taking the Silver Line to the airport is hopeless. There is no extra service to make up for Sumner delays so the buses get late and since the T doesn’t dispatch, they bunch together.

By 3 today every SL1 bus was at the airport.

So even though there’s no traffic from Logan, the bus is useless. Blue line is better, we should have done that even with the dumb design of the airport bus stopping for a long while at the rental car center.

@universalhub

@universalhub instead we took a cab. The cabs have not improved the rider experience one iota. Asked for cash even after we asked for someone with a card reader. No AC (although it was fine with windows down so I didn’t ask). The cabs got beat by Uber in 2013 and haven’t improved a lick.
@universalhub btw it might be impossible for many reasons but if MassDOT could single-lane the Callahan and turn one lane into a bus lane it would work very, very well. Not sure the roads are set up for that, alas. And I’m sure they’d scream “safety!”

@Ofsevit @universalhub This is a useful PSA since my past experiences led me to prefer Silver over Blue. It also reminds me that I still haven't biked to/from Logan since the Greenway Connector opened. I guess the stretch from E Somerville to E Boston is still fairly treacherous. But at least bike access is promoted on the #Massport website. https://www.massport.com/logan-airport/to-from-logan/transportation-options/biking/

(The nearest Blue Bikes station is about a half-mile walk from the airport though.)

Biking to and from Boston Logan International Airport

Bike racks are available at several major locations throughout Boston Logan, including terminals and parking garages.

@ozdreaming @Ofsevit @universalhub I think a lot of it depends on time-of-day. I had no trouble getting to the airport on the silver line last week during morning rush hour, but a very crowded/slow bus coming back from the airport in the evening. Blue line seemed just as risky considering the number of transfers I’d need
