I think All Hazards Radio is supposed to be the central alert system, with cell phone, TV, and radio alerts to support them.

I'm probably in the minority of people who actually own one of these radios, but mine hasn't been plugged in for years.

So... yeah. Maybe sirens are still a good idea.

@mdwyer I got used to hearing them every Tuesday when we lived in SF, but apparently their system is now down as well. Given how disinterested the city seems to be in getting buildings to meet code, some warning seems like a good idea.
