Finally back from my liminal jaunt around Europe! One of the coolest things I experienced were the Careto demons in the #trasosmontes region of Portugal! I had no idea but apparently #Celtic culture stretched into this region and some of the #pagan traditions have survived to this day! The people there were so friendly and hospitable, showing us old masks and even putting my son in one of the costumes! Highly recommend a visit! (I’ll add some tiktok videos so you can see more about them!)

@doctorpepper Yes, I found it fascinating and I want to know more! I befriended a woman on Tiktok who is from this region in Portugal and who recently went up to Edinburgh to represent the Tras-os-montes area for Beltane. She was wonderful in helping to setup connections to see the museum and meet locals!

@garrett ahh I didn’t make it to Beltane this year but plan to next time. May head over for Samhain.

I know there were celts in parts of Spain and Portugal so imagine that’s where it came from!
