Rüdiger BenninghausHerrnstein Castle in the municipality of Ruppichteroth (Rhein-Sieg-Kreis) dates back to a simple fortified house built around 1300. In the course of time, it was rebuilt into a castle and received its current appearance in the 19th century.
Since 1436, the estate has been owned by the Lords (later: Counts) of Nesselrode.
