It took some doing, but Linux Mint now seems to be working OK on my T2 Chip 2020 Macbook Air. Thank goodness for the Linux t2 wiki! #linux

@Jgmeadows is this working on Apple silicon, or one of the last Intel chips in a MacBook?

Will it support TouchID on a Magic Keyboard?

@ZeKik Hi there: this is not a solution for Apple Silicon (I'm running one of the last Intel i7 Macbook Airs). Regarding your other question, I don't have a Magic Keyboard to try this on, sorry!

@Jgmeadows no need to apologize! 😜

I had my Linux heyday not so long ago, when it was my main OS for all personal use for over a decade, and at one point I attempted to implement the fingerprint reader on my Toshiba PortΓ©gΓ©,* a contemporary competitor of the MacBook Air, so your trials and tribulations struck a chord.

*It did work, sort of, but it wasn’t very useful compared to the Windows implementation. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

@ZeKik PS if you have the gear you could try the install on an external USB SSD disk (that is what I did, to avoid accidentally borking the system). So far the performance from the external SSD is pretty good. The only issue I have run into so far is rather touchy WIFI #linux #t2chip #macbook
