@ZLabe

Somehow you should get this and some others you have made in the hands of a news agency. Hmm…there is a tale to tell here.

@ZLabe thank you for your continued work

@ZLabe

Climate change is real, and it is worrying…

@ZLabe the data this year although “normal” is going to look very skewed. This is due to global “ship tracks” and the change of fuel requirements to burning cleaner oil.

@hankgreen talks about it here.

@D1g1talDrag0n @hankgreen No, that story is highly oversimplified and even misleading. The lack of sea ice is mostly due to the Antarctic, which is being affected by an unusually strong/displaced Amundsen Sea Low, warmer ocean waters, and an active Southern Ocean storm track.
@ZLabe @hankgreen if you have a link, I would love to read it! I’m sure Hank would also!

@ZLabe

Hi, what was the cause for 2016?

@aeu This was a combination of poleward heat transport in the Arctic (https://www.worldweatherattribution.org/north-pole-nov-dec-2016/) and a sudden shit in Antarctic sea ice levels (https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/2017GL074691).

@ZLabe thinking nervously about the warming feedback of all that missing ice area in the arctic.
Thank you for your work.
