Many people in Japan depend on the NERV service for earthquake alerts. Unfortunately, they'll no longer be able to receive them on X.

Personally I find it interesting that they went with mastodon instead of misskey, but that's the beauty of the fediverse. It doesn't matter whether it's misskey, mastodon, firefish or all the other great options... y'all get disaster information

@furbyonsteroids They created their server before Misskey started using ActivityPub. They’ve been on Mastodon since 2017, and Misskey didn’t start using ActivityPub until 2018.

@furbyonsteroids And even if you don't wish to have a Fedi account to follow, every public user page has an rss-feed. At least on Prelooma and Masto, but I'm pretty sure, it's also true for other software.
