@SirTapTap Heya! I just wanted to help clarify a few things.

Ruffle started in around 2016! which was several years before the EOL of flash
Lightspark started at least as early as 2010!
Shumway *was* being developed around 8 years ago now, GNU GNASH was a very old attempt, you get the idea

there were a lot of people passionate about flash, to make efforts to emulate it, long before the EOL

it definitely is true that the speed of how good they are has only increased since 2020, but many (1/3)

@SirTapTap people were expecting adobe to support the 'cool down' period before the EOL, which tends to be standard in the industry. Adobe did NOT do that, and ripped away as much as they could as soon as they could catching well, all of us off guard.

Unfortunately, flash player and its content isn't just a single console you can emulate, it was an ever evolving system for nearly 30 years! that makes it pretty tough to emulate fully or properly! I'm glad Ruffle exists now, tbh because the (2/3)

@SirTapTap other options were leagues behind. Still shocked that Ruffle got to where it is now is such a short amount of time. I'm glad Neopets has decided to get back in the game with revamped team, a gleam in their eye, and Ruffle on their side, exciting!!

I definitely agree that a lot of people seem surprised that you can emulate flash, there are a decent amount of sitelocked games, online content, and muti asset messes, but mostly*, definitely flash files are local.
