@jon So do we know if this Quake II remaster includes online play? ☠️

@mark_phl I didn’t know this was coming out! I was just talking about how Quake 2 took multiple years of my life yesterday.

Ars says online play is there. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2023/08/quake-ii-gets-a-remaster-for-pc-and-consoles-and-its-exactly-what-it-needs-to-be/

Quake II gets a remaster for PC and consoles—and it’s exactly what it needs to be

It features both split-screen and online multiplayer, new levels, and 4K.

@jon and only $10! I see there’s a CRT filter. How about Riva and Voodoo 2 filters? 😂

@mark_phl if you already own quake 2 on steam it’s a free automatic upgrade. Just loaded up Parallels on my M2 to see if that works.

Riva filter = round particles. Voodoo 2 = square particles.

I know which I’m picking.

@jon watching a YouTube review and he keeps calling this game a “boomer shooter” … I’m thoroughly offended

@mark_phl boomer shooter is a whole genre. Boomer just means old now??

Last night I did a timedemo in parallels on my m2 and got 25fps in full screen. Not great. Jumped into a ctf match for a minute.

@mark_phl 93fps at native res using Crossover after enabling dxvk and high res mode. Noice. Now it’s playable.
@jon wow, I didn't realize Crossover was so powerful. I figured it would be about equal with Parallels. I should give this a shot - thanks!
