🚨 Last chance for public comment on expanding the robotaxi program today at 11 AM 🚨

You have only 1 minute to speak. It's a good idea to figure out what you want to say in advance and time yourself. Start by saying you oppose expanding AVs.

Public comment will be at the start of the meeting and continue until there is no one left in the queue. In-person public comments will happen before phone comments.

Phone:
Call 1-800-857-1917, passcode: 9899501#

You have to wait on the phone, it could be a long wait. When prompted by the operator, unmute your phone, and press *1 (star one). Once you press *1 you will be prompted to state your name and/or organization, do so slowly and clearly. The operator will call on you when it is your turn to speak.

In Person:
California State Building
505 Van Ness Ave at McAllister

The auditorium is off the central courtyard. Speakers go in the order they sign up, the signup table is right after going through security. Arrive at 10:30 AM if you want to speak earlier.

Some more advice on public comment in general:
- State your position clearly at the start.
- Write a draft, or at least the main bullet points, in advance.
- Practice at least once with a timer, they will cut you off as soon as you reach the time limit. You don't have to use the entire time.
- Know your audience. The CPUC is not going to suddenly adopt a radical new position on cars after a one minute speech, but might care about safety.
- Similarly, stay focused on the matter being voted on.
- Personal experiences or perspectives can be valuable.
🙄 the "safer roads for all" astroturf group is trying to flood public comment, so be sure to go in-person or call into the meeting to make your voice heard
@SafeStreetRebel baffled by the nutjobs calling in to support expansion, just crazy
@SocietyofRockets make sure to call in and give your perspective!
@SafeStreetRebel I tried and was in line but work interfered and now it's over >:(
@SocietyofRockets phone public comment is still going on! they're just on a 20 min break
