@ProPublica this is precisely why I think it’s time to split the parties up. Clearly, two parties aren’t enough anymore. Maybe if we split them, they’ll be forced to go back to that little thing called compromise.

Maybe I’m just dreaming, but I prefer my dream.

"Two parties aren't enough anymore."
Not sure they ever were, but the US "first past the post" #voting system makes >2 difficult, as weaker parties just bleed votes from (usually one of) the big 2. Fusion voting (candidate can be on multiple party lines, votes add together) or Ranked Choice Voting help, but it's a problem. OTOH, parliamentary systems can suffer from a tiny and perhaps extreme party holding the balance of power. Sadly, every system can and will be gamed.
@twit3300 @ProPublica perhaps in our current style of things it would be a problem, but it may be high time to go to more of a parliamentary system. It seems to works elsewhere, but I won’t pretend to be an expert on such things. That being said, anything and everything can be gamed. We’re humans and have more than a few among us that are greedy, self-centered, and cruel. I can only hope that the decent among us can get back to gathering together against them.
