Just had my eyes tested. Distance vision is more or less unchanged (good), but apparently I need mid-distance reading glasses. I’m told my lens is supple enough to use the same prescription for close reading as for about 1m away, but reading glasses will help. When did all this stuff become computerised, btw? What happened to the weird glasses with lenses they swapped about in a kind of magical game of guesswork?

Blue light coating too. What a time to be alive.
@swisslet the automated systems are prevalent in ‘name’ opticians. I had really bad service at Boots. I’ve started going to an independent, and pretty sure it’s a better prescription match. He does the swap lenses thing. Took longer, more expensive, but better service. You’re in Nottingham? Loxley on Friar Lane.
@creednmd thanks. I ditched Boots 20 years ago after they screwed up a prescription completely and then denied it was anything to do with them (but said they would investigate, and didn't).
