I haven't played around on #Lemmy or #kbin, but I am curious if the different, more thread oriented approach, has an effect on that aspect of things.

I also think limited post length has an effect. I literally had someone block me because it took two posts to express a complex idea and they didn't wait for me to finish the second post to see I agreed with them. 😯
