Science social media has sadly gone a bit crickets. But a good line here; a line there. Some very good discussion here on occasion, for sure. (be sure to follow @neurobuzz).
So ... what are you thinking about these days? I heard some rumbles from our favorite publisher about a new book?!
@NicoleCRust @neurobuzz hey, thanks! No firm plans for another book right now (my stats book just came out: https://press.princeton.edu/books/hardcover/9780691250939/statistical-thinking).
Thinking a lot about AI and cognitive neuroscience, and about philosophy of science stuff (i.e. can we really learn what we think we can learn from our data?). And cognitive ontologies - working on a grant for the next version of the Cognitive Atlas.

Yes - that was the book I was thinking of. Congrats! Looking forward to checking it out.
And great to see you push forward on the Cognitive Atlas (https://www.cognitiveatlas.org/). Cognitive ontologies and how we think about what it is that the brain and mind do is such a fundamental topic; it's one that I didn't appreciate for far too long. (For anyone curious to know more, this is a great talk from Russ on the topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHbcTnv8Zik).
On my end, I'm still very much thinking and researching memory. I'm also working to finish a book focused on diagnosing why it is that we've been learning so much about the brain and mind but new treatments for brain/mind dysfunction have emerged so sporadically. It's been fascinating and thrilling to dive into the history and philosophy of science as well as arms of research well outside my own.
The Air WhispererI've always been mindful of the apocryphal caveat:
'The problem with inventing Artificial Intelligence is that it calls into question our understanding of Natural Intelligence...'
So every time an 'AI breakthrough' turns up, I wonder whether the PREVIOUS lesson will be learned THIS time.
Hopefully, the projects you're both working on can address some of that deficit; would a conversation about it interest either of you...?
