Block people who are annoying. All dudebrah arguments against — that it’s weak, soft, etc. — apply equally to not drinking urine.

“Dude, you don’t drink urine? That’s weak bro.”

“Gross. Why would I drink urine? I don’t want to.”

“Maybe you’re just too soft bro. What a pussy.”

@Popehat I block people instantly and with only one reason needed. If I detect trolling that person is gone and I do not argue with them. I learned that over a decade ago
@Popehat and this is why my Twitter feed wasn't the nightmare some people say theirs were
That is until Musky came along and he threatened me because I was saying bad things about Trump

@jlroberson @Popehat
It's right there in my Twitter bio:
"Gaslighters blocked without warning."

(Well, it was, until I had to delete characters to make room to put my new mastodon ID)

@weaselx86 @Popehat I learned this earlier on from a much tougher and nastier place called the comics journal message board. It was a snake pit, full of gas lighters and trolls, and you couldn't block anybody. The minute I had the power to block, I used it against such people whenever I felt like it
@weaselx86 @Popehat The thing is too, people will say you're putting yourself "in a bubble."
So tell me, if there was no web, no smartphones, what did people do about random strangers challenging them to arguments?
Why, they didn't talk to them, because back then it meant they were crazy people you encountered on the street. Back then except maybe in drunken bar arguments I guess, it simply did NOT happen, your default was not talking to strangers.
@jlroberson @Popehat
Well, this is called "social" media for a reason, and people come her voluntarily to interact with other people. There have always been social clubs where people would gather in person, meet people who were previously strangers, and engage them in conversation. Social media seems more analogous to that than to the random stranger you happen to pass on the street.
@weaselx86 @Popehat Except social clubs were something that were not as common as social media is. Most people didn't belong to "clubs" in that way. Obviously there were ways for people to meet and socialize but they had to leave their home and do it on purpose. not doomscroll.
But most of the time in public, you did not talk to others unless you had a reason

Drink Pee coin rewards piss drinkers $7000 - Cryptocoindaddy.com

This might sound a bit ridiculous but someone has launched a token called Drink Pee that rewards users for drinking their own piss with $7000 worth of ethereum. It is certainly a unique or rather nasty way of promoting a project. To get $7000 worth of Ethereum, you must record a video of yourself peeing […]

@SazeracLA @Popehat

Considering he's an evil human from a different reality, who praised Musk in the show he's in, I don't think he's good gif material in this instance.

@Popehat Seriously, if they make your experience worse and don't have any potential value for learning or perspective, why make your life worse? BLOCK
@Popehat Crowded theater aside, their right to free speech ends with your right not to listen.

@Popehat

This metric applies to so much in life not just blocking. But, definitely block early and often!

Awesome life lesson 🙂

@Popehat blocking a person because they hold a different view than you reveals one's intellectual inferiority.

Blocks are better served after defeating their argument and before they reply.

@Popehat

It's worth pointing out that blocking a user *does nothing to them*. It's about yourself. You don't see their bullshit anymore. And they can very easily continue to see yours if they so choose - every mastodon accounts is a rss feed. It just you choosing to ignore them in a definitive way.

@Popehat To be clear, you are against drinking your own or really anyone's urine, right?

I wonder how that convo would go with this guy.

@Popehat The fact that this thread surfaced several urine drinking advocates is simultaneously unsurprising, hilarious, and sad.
@Popehat This is such a disturbing thread. How is this even reality.
@Popehat
I almost forgot this. I moved from Twitter to Mastodon five weeks ago and only today issued my very first block here, of someone who seemed intent on proving a point about assholes by direct demonstration.
@Popehat yes. Zero tolerance for fools, argumentative types, asshats, etc. I chalk it up to postmenopausal impatience, and go with it.
@Popehat I'm printing this and posting it on my wall at work. It applies to meat space too.
