#KermisFM is a 10-day 100% volunteer-run media outlet covering the yearly #Tilburg fun fair.
Both the fun fair and Kermis FM are massive. The fun fair spans through the entire 4km city centre. Kermis FM runs a radio station, two TV channels, a website and a bunch of social media platforms with roughly 200 volunteers.
Absolute bonkers.
Kermis FM is special because for a little bit of time, professionals and newcomers are equal.
Pros come to Kermis FM because it's a playground of epic proportions. They get to work with cool equipment and tie things together in new and exotic ways. Also: it's a very good networking spot because of all the other pros. And it's a good time!
Newcomers come to Kermis FM because they want to experience media from the inside, learn from pros and just want to have a good time.
A good time it is!
I've operated everything from a deep fryer to a vision mixer, and I can't wait to do it all again next year while seeing so many lovely colleagues from the industry.
#KermisFM: impossible to capture the vibe, but at least this aftermovie does a valiant attempt.
Here's a lovely (Dutch) portrait of #KermisFM by the @volkskrant newspaper in celebration of its 15th edition this year.
