Still can’t decide if I want to use Firefish more or stay on Mastodon. I really enjoy some of the additional features. I love misskey flavored markdown (MFM) and emoji reacts. and I think if I can figure them out, antennae and channels seem fun too. But I also really love Mastodon. My mastodon instance even has emoji reacts, which I love ❤️.

Anyone who’s tried both have thoughts on this? Why am I so indecisive?

#mastodon #firefish

#Firefish #Antenna #Filters Ugh, on top of the ***major bug*** [https://git.joinfirefish.org/firefish/firefish/-/issues/10535] that makes using Antennae for the vital task of following #Hashtags [given that weirdly the FF design *excludes* them from the Home t/l like Mastodon does] *unusable*, i've now discovered two more very disappointing things in my Antenna. Unlike my Home t/l, my Antenna is entirely ignoring my filters for #ServerMutes & #WordMutes. Combined, these three flaws for Antennae represent a simply major deficiency in my Firefish UX compared to Masto. 😭

@MsDropbear42 I noticed my antennas repeating. Didn’t realize it was a bug! I do also enjoy following hashtags, so I completely understand that. But I also agree that the UI of Firefish is really beautiful. So many things to think about
@robustjumprope I have a Mastodon account too

But i really like Firefish for my personal account, i like it more for the emoji reacts and how it looks more friendly than Mastodon
@kimby Very true, emoji reacts are so fun

@robustjumprope I can’t comment on Firefish, but re:Mastodon and certain features, it does seem like so much is in rapid development and flux, that most good ideas and UI options will become available at some point.

The most important thing is always going to be the community, tho. Where are you meeting the most people you want to, having the most enjoyable conversations, and is growing healthier?

@cthellis so true! Community is extremely important. Fortunately for me, my Mastodon account is on Urusai, and my Firefish account is on Sakurajima, so the communities are very closely intertwined no matter which way I go. But for now I’ve decided to focus on Mastodon because I do love the community and like you said, Mastodon does seem to be developing at a reasonably good pace.
