NEW: We have a donation page for Alaskan.Social 🎉

Our costs are currently about $25/month. This includes our domain, webhosting, and secure password management. Not a bad deal for our 50-100 active users!

You can make a one time or recurring donation on our Open Collective donation page. Like other servers, we plan to keep an extra 6 months of expenses on hand.

Thanks to mods @Mielke and @isposdef for setting this up.

I don't see a contribute section on that page, even though there are existing contributions. Maybe because "Collective pending approval?" Will check back later.

@nborson @moderators @Mielke We’re working on joining a “collective”, so contributions are paused for now. We’ll be sure to make an announcement when that process is finished and contributions are open again!

For context, joining the collective puts us under their non-profit status. This way none of us have to report donations to the collective as income. It also gives us some liability coverage. Full disclosure, some percent of donations will go to the collective once this happens.

@isposdef That's cool, I had not heard of these collectives. I can think of any number of small, informal groups that could use a treasury but not the overhead of a taxpayer ID etc. 👍
Will wait patiently to do my part!
