@sigmasternchen I'd love to get my hands on the SSDs with the CinemaDNG-RAW + 21.3 Audio...

But not only are they individually encrypted and require a very expensive setup to legitimate play them back, but it's not as if one could just hook up some 4K-TV, but rather needs something like a Christie's Cinema Projector...

I was offered a used one but not only would've been 3 Pallets and 15t of gear that couldn't fit even in the Garage of my Parents, it would've also requred a 400V @ 125A outlet.

@kkarhan 400 V @ 125 A. 😱
Assuming it draws full power that's about 60 € of electricity for a 3 h movie...

@sigmasternchen The problem is that even the most generous wirings I've seen only do 63A for a single house and even the block I live in only has like 3x 125A for all units.

So good luck finding an outlet to plug in.

For comparison: The biggest generator my fire department has in service is like 63A unit and it's meant to be used to keep the fire station or hospitals' ER & ECU powered in case their local generators fail before they can MEDEVAC the place...

@kkarhan I think I saw 125A wiring at some festivals. I wonder where they connect to. 🤔
@sigmasternchen Unless it's a location with sufficient grid connectivity [I.e. a 15kW ground calble transformer station] they tend to get Generators in 20' containers that are rented out for that purpose by companies like #Bredenoord that basically offer the whole setup, transport, fuel and onsite staff to run them for fixed fees...
@kkarhan I see. Are you an electrical engineer?

@sigmasternchen nah but I know enough and there's like this huge beerfest in my hometown annually that has these thicc bois up and running...

Also fmr. firefighter who also had the pleasure of manually starting one of those generators on a flat battery with the pullcord...

You know how much sweat and swearwords it takes to get a generator up and running that is older than my parents and that got last used before I graduated elementary school?

@kkarhan No, but I can imaging. ^^

@sigmasternchen Granted that was a worst-case scenario with the battery unplugged to exercise that point.

Normally it would start up with the easy to reconnect LiFePO4 batteries or just a jumpstarter from a firetruck...

And the generators that are in regular use by said rental companies OFC are well tested and come with personnel to keep them up and running as part of the rental.

Needless to say Cinemas do have their inhouse 15kV wiring and they do pay for it.

@sigmasternchen for example a venue in my hometown owned by the City has a €15k base fee per month just to keep being connected.

So OFC noone but billionaires would have a Christie's in their "home"...
