Y’all are BOTH making invalid arguments. There are pros and cons to both methods. You have each grown accustomed to one way and the other way seems strange to each of you. It’s not like one of you is wrong and one right.
I grew up in Oregon but have pumped gas when traveling in other states. Getting out to pump your gas is a minor inconvenience. Waiting for an attendant to serve you is a minor inconvenience. Each of you are simply used to a different minor inconvenience.
