And now, on a Saturday, (appearing unwilling to waste much time) Judge Chutkan has given Donald Trump until 5pm ET Monday to respond to the special counsel's motion for a protective order following Trump's ostensible threat post on social media:
@Brandi_Buchman We are definitely in the 'FO' part of 'FAFO'.

@Brandi_Buchman

Come on, how hard can it be for Trump's lawyers to grab his phone out of those tiny little hands already?

@Brandi_Buchman Trump already responded that he wants to defer till August 10

@Brandi_Buchman

Maybe I'm just stupid, but why is he not jailed, or at least have his social media privileges revoked by gag order or condition of release during the trial process, as he's obviously inciting violence, again, which is why we're here to begin with..? I don't know, I'm not a lawyer? Where's Matlock??

@Brandi_Buchman
So Trump's attorneys will get their first visit with Judge Chutkan three weeks earlier than they originally anticipated.

Sucks to be them.

@Brandi_Buchman Things I noted in their response:
1) They are trying to define a threat as a protected political speech, it's not.
2) They removed the timing & context of their response, trying to change who the post was directed.
Also, as @emptywheel has taught me I'm not posting their reply straight. I crossed it out & annotated it.
#TrumpProtectiveOrder
#JackSmith #WitnessTampering
@spocko @Brandi_Buchman @emptywheel aha. I had not seen that advice about using images and marking up misinformation images.
Thanks 👍

You are welcome! It takes a bit more time, but helps disrupt their message. it's harder for audio, which is one of the reasons radio is so powerful at getting a message right into people minds.
Video can include overlays & pop up notes, but when news runs them they still end up repeating the message, even if they dispute them. That is why the media should never run Trump rallies live.

@Brandi_Buchman @emptywheel
I think we'll be seeing lots of parsing of "What is a threat?" &
"Who decides if it is a violation of the conditions?"
We care about that, but watch how #Trump will work the PUBLIC, to play victim using their definition, NOT the legal one.

His Social Media strategy is to question the language, #1stAmendment & #freespeech BTW, #TruthSocial has TOS defining threats & forbidding them, but they say they don't HAVE to remove people who make them.

@Brandi_Buchman You’ve just made my day. (What does “1css” mean?)
@Brandi_Buchman I think even she thought it crossed the line...
