I don't think anyone in the industry is really prepared for the long term maintenance of significant amounts of LLM generated code.
@dreid Hell, the industry is only barely capable of maintaining significant amount of human-written explicitly-documented code
@dreid I mean, they mostly have no idea how to maintain the code already being written by hand
@sanityinc @dreid @eaton Right? I'm seriously worried that folks will see LLMs as the way out of their tech debt nightmares.

@dreid DL-NNAI LLM "job security".

🤔 I recall something about this being the way we end up with Skynet.

@dreid I don't think anyone in the industry is really prepared for the long term maintenance of significant amounts of LLVM generated code.
@dreid most existing code isn't maintained in any meaningful sense
@dreid apple is. they dont allow llm generated code.
@dreid The day human generated code is not needed, I guess I would just retire.
@dreid
executives are very sure they'll soon be rich enough it won't be their problem. Middle-management hopes LLMs will maintain the LLM-generated code, in those rare moments when they think about the problem.
@dreid @histoftech it’s hard enough (not) maintaining code written by people for 20 years
