This time on my #blog not a tutorial, but a personal note in which I talk about my history of #BOINC, and how I feel about the possible future of this distributed computing network. I also list some interesting projects you can contribute to.

My thoughts as I reach 100 million points in BOINC

The not so happy reflections on distributed computing

@stfn I've contributed off and on to #boinc #foldingathome and other #distributedcomputing projects for many years but now don't want to run up my electric bill or warm the planet for them.
Are there any data showing energy efficiency of distributed computing options? I can run Folding@Home on just my high efficiency cores 24/7 with #AppTamer but I've no idea if that is "green" compared to a server. BOINC uses high power/low efficiency cores so I uninstalled it.
@BrianPierce You raised a very good point, distributed computing will never be as energy efficient as using dedicated servers for calculations. Servers are designed to be as power efficient as possible, whereas consumer computers, especially older ones are far from it.
