@GhastlyRune I'm not tech-oriented like a lot of Mastodon users, so I tried my best to explain the system in layman terms :"3 I had someone explain Mastodon like an email and that's what really clicked for me. I'm glad it comes across as simple!

@Snewdraws I get ya. Thankfully, I am tech savvy, so I understood it very quickly after a little research, but I understood that it's not something a lot of people will get. I've had to explain is very simply to folks on my discord when the topic came up. But I think you made a very easy to digest explanation. Email is a really good example, I feel silly for not thinking of that myself. Lol

@Snewdraws The thing I still don't get about it though is the instances. I've had zero interaction with a single person that's also using furs.social. The only difference is the T&C's and the security of where/who hosts it. Otherwise they're all the same.

@briiz @Snewdraws for the most part, yes but some instances don't have to be using mastodon as well as some might be using pleroma, calckey or firefish (or just anything that supports activitypub)

Yes, technically you can.

@Snewdraws It often only works half way. You'll randomly lose follwers, all your old posting will become undiscoverable, and it's generally a huge pain in the butt.
