finally came around to assembly this beauty~

oh and trans rights are human rights!

The stars twinkle very gently and the glass slightly wobbels in color.

Huuge thanks to かにあじ for creating the artwork of the girl and her shark. ありがとうございます! Please check out their art! :3 https://void-aquarium.com/

Finally for the EE side of this project, it is a stackup of multiple boards, one backboard with all the LEDs, controller and LED driver. To achieve a better color representation, the LEDs behind the girl, glass and shark consist of pixels with 5 colors each. RGB + Pink + Cyan. The stars have fixed single color LEDs, mostly white, but mixed in with plenty colors we can observe in the night sky. This gives the whole board a beautiful color rendering ability. just remembered this screenshot I took of the board being routed, it looks like a lovely small metro system :3
@janamarie that looks really nice!
Mini metro but electrons?
@janamarie this is absolutely stunning. Massive well done. When I first saw it my first thought you might have used a single, thicker board with board-facing SMT LEDs on the back and partial-depth holes milled out to accommodate them. Multiple boards makes for a much nicer finish though. Love it!
@ret thanks! :3 having just a single board would be amazing for assembly, aligning the three boards takes time. However reverse mount LEDs and boards with milled out pockets are just so expensive >-<
@janamarie and it wouldn’t make a very good coaster with exposed electronics on the back!

And frankly they just don't look or work as well. There are so many more standard down options and stuff. It makes assembly kind of a beast but the end is worth it
