Each time i look in again on my still-newish #Firefish account, hoping to see some of the disappointing bugs resolved, i'm very quickly saddened again by apparently irrelevant toots appearing in my #followedhashtags #antenna. The picture shows a typical example. I do NOT follow those tags, so why is this toot here in my Antenna?

Then, i wondered if maybe, all this time, i might be fundamentally misunderstanding how to properly use Antennae for following tags. The closest tag i
do follow, & whose toots i absolutely do want in this t/l, is #Linux ... by which my intention was that full word, but only that full word, not also that word as part of a longer tag. This pictured toot, https://firefish.social/notes/9hy57g0wn9nfkh0x, does otoh include tag #Linuxulator. Is Firefish's Antenna algorithm looking for all occurrences of my #Linux tag, even if only a fragment of a longer tag? If so, how can i stop it doing that, & make it only search for my literal tags as-is?

Btw, apologies to Vince -- i'm not trying to be mean to your fine toot; tis just a good example of how my Antenna is either incorrectly functioning, or instead my erroneous usage of it. Your toot is
lovely, i'm sure! ๐Ÿค—

LMAO I just got so pissed off at running Linux utilities under Windows Subsystem for Linux and it throwing nonsensical errors, that I just moved over to FreeBSD's #Linuxulator. ALMOST everything "just worked", except had to recompile one binary natively for #FreeBSD ;) .... And now... I'm considering compiling the entire utility suite natively for FreeBSD and making it a new port...

@MsDropbear42 If you want to limit the search to the exact term you specify, you have to put that term between double quote signs.

For example, if you want to catch posts with occurrences of linux, but not Archlinux, instead of
linux
you have to use:
"linux"
@brome Oh wow, fantastic advice; thanks so much! Off now to edit my list.

Btw, silly question maybe, but HOW did you know that? Is there some excellent How To for
#Firefish that explains this level of detail i can use as reference for my myriad current unknowns?
@MsDropbear42 A few months ago, I was struggling with the configuration of my antennas, they were returning unwanted results.

I saw a discussion about antennas involving
@kainoa, so I asked them if there was a way to limit the search to full words, and they told me about that very useful trick.
@MsDropbear42 I couldn't find the exact post where we discussed that, but I stumbled on another one from @youronlyone, who posted an image with the following text, but I haven't tested all that, and I don't know if it applies to both search and antennas.

Advanced search operators
from:user => filter by user
has:image/video/audio/text/file => filter by attachment types
domain:domain.com => filter by domain
before:Date => show posts made before Date
after Date => show posts made after Date
"text" => get posts with exact text between quotes
filter:following => show results only from users you follow
filter:followers => show results only from followers

@brome @[email protected] T/y very much. I made those edits about 30' ago, & have reloaded my tab several times. Many of my Antenna toots do include one or more of my tags... but sadly, many toots continue to be, as far as i can tell, entirely random & undesired. So atm i remain a bit confused.
@MsDropbear42 @youronlyone
It will not magically clean the current content displayed by your antennas, even if you reload. The change will only affect future posts.
