I've been working with an amazing team on a new TTRPG for the last couple of years. We're going to launch it in the next few months. Which is exciting! But it also means we have to build up some social media profiles.

Why no Fediverse handles, you ask? Because I believe that the #fediverse is for people, not brands. So, we're keeping the brand stuff on the corporate platforms.

If you're interested in the game, I'll definitely be posting about it on this account. :)

@mike As a person, I really don’t want to have to go to the corporate platforms just to get updates from brand accounts.

I’d much rather see brands contributing value to the #fediverse rather than giving people an excuse to stick with corporate platforms because the brands they want to follow aren’t here anyway.

@trevorstinson I think people speaking for brands makes more sense. To that end, we may launch a fediverse instance at some point.

@aytvill @mike Why should I have to be on Twitter to get status updates from my favorite video game? I’d love it if they posted here so I’d know about downtime, items disabled due to bugs, etc. Instead, as a #fediverse user, I’m simply in the dark. I’m struggling to see how that’s good for the fediverse.

@mike there are NO corporate production without tracking and measurements. they won't work your way - they need cookies, trackers, beacons, etc. Even if they spare own fediverse instance from that, it won't work in their environment. And then, keep in mind that fediverse is not single you, but many people with expectation this all is walled out. Go back to FB/TW/IG/etc -- there you are supposed to be hamster in their wheel. There it will work ok. There _we_ will not need to defederate corpos with their agenda.

@aytvill Sorry, I did not mean to get into a debate. The whole point is that I do not want to be on the corporate platforms. Telling me and others to go there is the opposite of helpful and this sort of attitude worries me for the future of the #fediverse. I want it to succeed, not become a tiny, irrelevant corner of the web.

@mike I will gladly continue to follow you right here. I want not to go to these platforms. But I would have zero problem to follow a fediverse brand/product account, in fact I would be glad to. (Not a Threads one, mind.)
