Inside the “Private and Confidential” Conservative Group That Promises to “Crush Liberal Dominance”

Leonard Leo, a key architect of the Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority, is now the chairman of Teneo Network, a group that aims to influence all aspects of American politics and culture.

@maria @ProPublica Leo is like a villain out of a horror movie

@gretared @ProPublica

I KNOW I'm like, is this real life

@maria @ProPublica that's a lot of words to say "we're mad we can't abuse women and children and repress minorities like we used to"
Somebody should check Leo's devices for CSM.
@maria @ProPublica Ugh... JD Vance, Hawley, Stefanik... the worst of the worst "young guns" in the CONservative lie-o-sphere. A "wretched hive of scum and villainy" indeed.
@maria @ProPublica I wish the journalists would call out these fascists for what they are.

@maria @ProPublica
Interesting how to conservatives, they see a liberal dominance because they are regarding hearts and minds, and most people are ‘liberal’ when compared to them. This hearts and minds scares them to their core as some kind of failing society. This seems to be permanent and they don’t realise that something can’t be permanently failing. They are blinkered to the now.

As a liberal, I see the power structures and actually see a conservative dominance. As a man, if I simply wore a dress, they would see this as a powerful demonstration of power against them. They said we shouldn’t then I did. They see that order when that order isn’t there. I don’t actually wear dresses but if anyone does, that doesn’t mean anything to me. People that wear them are just wearing them and it’s no big deal.

All our premises are different and that is why we seem so crazy to each other.

@maria @ProPublica
Frightening, but Baehr's fantasy about how progressives operate is such projection, it's funny.
“... a group... sitting... for lunch...
The billionaire says: ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if...kids had free access to sex-change therapy...?’”...the filmmaker says, ‘I’d love to do a documentary on that;...’ The Harvard professor says, ‘We can do studies...to say that’s...sound and safe.’ And the New York Times person says, ‘I’ll profile people who feel trapped in the wrong gender.’ ”
@hugh @maria @ProPublica Always accuse the other side of doing the thing you’re doing.
@maria @ProPublica this is downright scary, a real life Bond villain. People have GOT to start voting.

@weslowik @maria @ProPublica

Pitchforks are a far better option at this point.

@maria @ProPublica Conservative thinking: “Many were increasingly of the opinion that they'd all made a big mistake in coming down from the trees in the first place. And some said that even the trees had been a bad move, and that no one should ever have left the oceans.”
@maria @ProPublica Well! THAT sounds totally creepy. Does he really think we all need to be Leo robots? Mothers don’t let your babies grow up to be Leos.

@maria @ProPublica

Our only hope for our democracy is to develop a culture of mandatory voting. "Trying" cannot be good enough anymore. If we are privileged with the right to vote, we just do it. If we are not allowed to vote, we help educate and organize others.

Voter education, of course, is just as important as voting. We need to be informed about every race. That's where communities come in, educating neighbors and holding candidate forums.

We need a cultural shift across the country in terms of what it means to be a responsible member of society. Democracy is a privilege that comes with responsibilities.

@jennyzilliac @ProPublica

Many (many) try to vote and are denied. The enemies of democracy in the US have always been powerful but now all their masks have come off.

@maria @ProPublica

Yes, and by those of us who can vote, doing so, in every election as informed voters, we can shift the power base to leaders who value democracy and will work hard to strengthen it. We can gradually eliminate the barriers to voting.

@maria @ProPublica it is built in in the way how USA was set up. It open doors to fascists in so many ways. No wonder they are trying to do it via backdoor.
@maria @ProPublica this is so depressing I couldn’t even read it all. I hate these people.

@Lurs @ProPublica

I know, it's horrible, but better to expose them than not.

@maria @ProPublica

Maybe it's okay that we are all going to die when the oxygen cycle no longer has oxygen producers due to ocean acidification and forest wildfires.

@maria @ProPublica If you were looking for the "deep state", Teneo and the Federalist Society is as deep as it gets. If you were so inclined, you could call it a conspiracy.
@maria @ProPublica Reading this just makes me angry and sick to my stomach. These people are sick, evil, lying bastards. And it’s sad that 43% or so Americans are willing to give them power.
