I was just thinking that I’m glad I’m on Mastodon coz I haven’t seen any Fahrenheit- is- objectively- better bros here, unlike the other place, but unfortunately I just saw one
@skinnylatte my only reasons for liking imperial measurement is that 38 degrees Celsius doesn’t “sound” as hot as it is when I’m complaining about the weather and I don’t want to have to switch out all my woodworking tools that have measurements on them. Just about everything else about metric would be great.
@screamname That’s the thing though, if you use Celsius natively, 38 *sounds and feels* hot to you! And Fahrenheit doesn’t sound like anything at all! Almost as intuitive as kelvin (if you don’t use it, which is for the rest of the world). Fahrenheit makes sense to people who use it.
@skinnylatte 100%, I agree. It’s not rational. Maybe what I’m actually advocating for is another system which properly rates Texas summers as 10,000 degrees.
