Francis@omgubuntu it was so warm and welcoming, I remember booting my first live CD (it was 8.04 I think) and feeling at home right from the beginning.
I didn't exactly get how apt-get was working under the hood back then but it felt like MAGIC that I wouldn't need to go to a website and download stuff to install it...that was what sold it to me.
So many memories🥲

@omgubuntu I think I for used to it bottling silently, since I usually have my phone on vibrate too. But its nostalgic to hear it again.
blackknight95857669@omgubuntu ah, Hardy Heron. I started with Dapper Drake. Stuck with Ubuntu till Natty Narwhal. Wasn't a fan of Unity so I bounced around a bit and settled on Mint. Stuck with that till recently, almost a decade. Garuda today (Arch based). That sound sure brings back memories.

I sometimes miss the old Ubuntu branding. Don't get me wrong, I like the slick look of modern Ubuntu with Yaru. But the original theming really helped one get the feeling that they were using something meant first and foremost for human beings, and warmly welcoming them into the FOSS community.
